Louisville, KY, November 1 – The LMPD is getting an addition to the force, but he doesn’t say much and walks on four legs. You guessed it – it’s a dog! Recently, Sonitrol Security of Louisville owner, Ken Krapf, donated a Belgian Malinois to the Louisville Metro Police K9 Unit. In an event at Walden School, Sonitrol presented the LMPD with a donation for $8,500. “We enjoy working with the LMPD and the Louisville Metro Police Foundation” states Ken, “and are always willing to help out in whatever way we can to support their efforts to protect our community.”

Louisville Metro K9 Unit responds to situations calling for trained police dogs which include building and area searches, evidence/property recovery, tracking and apprehending of suspects and searches for narcotics and hazardous devices. Bandit will be trained for explosive device tracking in facilities and large areas.
