How to Create a Holiday Type in SONITROL CORE

Creating holiday types in SONITROL CORE allows you to organize and categorize different kinds of holidays for your organization. Whether you’re managing national holidays, state holidays, or custom schedules like school closures, defining holiday types ensures your calendar is structured and easy to manage.

In this step-by-step guide, we’ll walk you through how to create holiday types from start to finish.

Step 1: Confirm you’re in the correct organization

Before making any changes, verify that you’re working in the correct organization. This ensures your holiday types are applied to the right calendar and prevents issues later.

Step 2: Navigate to calendars

To begin:

1. Open the Navigation Pane
2. Scroll down and select Schedules
3. In the submenu, click Calendars

Step 3: Select the appropriate calendar

Once inside the calendar view:

1. Confirm you are viewing the correct calendar for your organization
2. Click anywhere on the calendar to begin

Step 4: Create a day type

After clicking on the calendar:

1. Look for the available options
2. Select Create Day Type (not the “Add” button)

This is where you define a holiday type — not an individual holiday.

Step 5: Name and assign a color

Next, configure your holiday type:

1. Enter a descriptive name (e.g., National Holiday)
2. Choose a color to represent it (e.g., green)
3. Click Add Day Type

You’ll now see the new holiday type available when clicking on the calendar.

Step 6: Create additional holiday types

You can repeat this process to create multiple types.

For example:

• State Holiday (red)
• School Holiday (orange)

Having distinct categories makes it easier to organize and differentiate holidays later.

Step 7: Understand system limits

SONITROL CORE allows:

• Up to 5 holiday types
• Up to 100 holidays total across those types

This gives you flexibility to organize a wide range of events while keeping your system structured.

Step 8: Edit or delete holiday types

If you need to make changes:

1. Click the three-dot menu next to Add Holiday
2. Locate the holiday type you want to manage
3. Select Delete if needed

This is helpful if you need to clean up or reorganize your holiday structure.
