Sonitro Acquires Orlando Franchise

April 06, 2006 - Sonitrol Corporation, the leader in verified electronic security, today announced the acquisition of the territory and operating rights of its Orlando dealership, Sonitrol of Orlando. This acquisition expands Sonitrol Corporation's footprint in Florida to six cities, including Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fort Myers and Lakeland. Orlando is also the home of Sonitrol Corporation's Research and Development Center.

"As a franchise-structured company, Sonitrol continually strives to strike the right balance of franchise coverage and direct coverage," said Kevin Dowd, Sonitrol Chairman and CEO. "This acquisition allows Sonitrol to bring more direct selling resources to bear in Orlando, which traditionally has been one of our strongest markets. We will work closely with local school officials, business owners and police to ensure a seamless transition."

In conjunction with the purchase, Sonitrol of Orlando General Manager Bill Ford will join Sonitrol Corporation as Vice President, Educational and Institutional Sales.

"Bill Ford's track record in the Orlando market speaks for itself," said Dowd. "His knowledge of the area and his wealth of expertise in the education sector make him a tremendous asset to the company, and a vital component of this acquisition. Bill has been with Sonitrol for over 26 years and we are delighted to have him join the team as Vice President, Educational and Institutional Sales."
